Illuminating minerals with ABSOLUTE SERIES™ LED Linear Module - 99 CRI
I'm collecting Agates, a type of mineral which is built up by layers of different colors or color nuances, often in amazing shapes. There is one problem: In nature, they shine in bright colors. In a show-case or for photo-shooting instead, even under a CRI98 tube, the colors quickly fade to a muddy grey-in-grey or brown-in-brown. Obviously they need bright and optimal balanced(!) full spectrum light to enfold their beauty. It was the outstanding website of Waveform Lighting, which called my interest with its detailed information all around lighting. I saw that here somebody has the courage to set the bar with CRI99 far above mainstream. I studied the information and contacted the company, whenever my knowledge was too short to understand the text correctly. The answers came quick, clear, competent, friendly and helpful. This encouraged me to take some money and order 2 modules (D50 and D65) for a test. D65 can be compared with a spring middays light, with bright colors but without the interfering blue cast of high summer noon. D50 is a littlebit warmer, like early afternoon, not yet with a cast of yellow, but still with a clear, bright white. Most impressing was that the vivid colors not only appear in the focus of full light, but also in the shadow parts of the room. My Agates can enfold their full beauty. There is one small difference to sunlight: On a convex, polished mineral surface the sun reflects in one point. The LEDs instead reflect as a line or as a chain of points. I'm sure that most people won't remark this difference. After the completely satisfying color check I added a simple test to detect hidden flicker: In the morning normally I pour my oat flakes under cheap LED light into a bowl. Due to the hidden flicker there is a strange stroboscope effect: I see chains of flakes as sharp objects . With the ABSOLUTE SERIES™ LED instead there is no such flicker.
