ModernVintage™ 95 CRI A19 5W LED Filament Bulb
★★★
not bad, but not a halogen replacement
These are not a direct replacement for a clear halogen bulb, despite claims that the 3000k model is indistinguishable from a halogen bulb. If you want a bright "point source" to use in a fixture with a lot of crystals, they are kind of dull and lack sparkle because the filament parts are so large compared to a halogen. The sparkle or "dazzle" just isn't there. They aren't really ideal to use in place of a frosted halogen bulb, either, as they cast shadows inside a lamp shade. Some LED filament bulbs like this have the filaments angled, which I think would solve the issue. Finally, the "40 watt" replacement is a bit misleading. It has an output more like a 29 watt than a 43 watt. Maybe an old 40 watt incandescent that is halfway to burned out. The color performance is great. However, it does not get 'warmer' as the bulb dims like a halogen or even incandescent does. To be fair, the one LED bulb I tried that "mimics" this turn to a sickly yellowed hue when dimmed. I did eventually find use for the two that I bought - one in an old desk lamp, and one on our rarely-used back porch light, where their shortcomings don't matter. But I'm not planning to buy any more."
