ABSOLUTE SERIES™ LED Flexible Strip - 99 CRI - D50 / D65

Rich Detail
My company does product design and development of consumer electronics. So, we need good lighting for prototyping, color matching, etc. The problem is we have partitioned office spaces inside a large warehouse with a 36' roof and dark wood rafters. Our solution was to build a pergola over the office area and install 5K Absolute Series LED strips under the beams. The light is great and provides rich detail to any task. It feels light we're working in small courtyard on a mediterranean island with diffuse light shining down. One thing I will note, proper diffusion is very important. Otherwise, the light can look harsh. We tried a few methods, including the types of aluminum channels offered by Waveform. The best diffuser material we found was prismatic acrylic which you often see in drop down ceiling panels. It was the best at breaking up the segmented LED pattern and creating a uniform source, not to mention had the highest light transmission. Using a light meter on our work surfaces, the intensity actually increased when the bare LEDs were covered with the prismatic acrylic. We ended up making out own fixtures out of aluminum U-channel. Mounting the LED's perpendicular to the diffuser as illustrated in the attached drawing yields outstanding results. We also found an excellent and cost effective solution for power - standard ATX computer power supplies. They're inexpensive, have very high 12V current ratings, good voltage regulation as well as a built-in cooling fan. You can easily power them on and off using the PS_ON# enable pin."
